I purchased this cable modem recently as part of a switch from Comcast to Astound (East Bay Service) and moved up from 20 Mb/s to 50 Mb/s. The move required a DOCIS 3 modem. Although I have only been using this modem for about a month now, I have been using the same model at my brother's house for almost 6 months and both are running great (he has Comcast service). I've been very pleased with this modem upgrading from a DOCSIS 2.0 Surfboard modem. I didn't really understand what I was missing, which is strange because I consider myself a tech-literate person.In any case, the bottom line is, if you are using an older model, upgrading to current technology will greatly help. My broadband speeds literally doubled from 12Mbps to 24Mbps by replacing my old 2.0 for this 3.0 modem.
If you think about it, doesn't make sense to have the latest wireless router with insanely fast speeds if your modem is not up to date.
